The LatAm Edge Award 2022, the only Award in Latin America for startups and pre-scale-ups that want to expand to the United Kingdom and the European Community discloses the list of its 21 finalists and opens free registration for the Latam Edge Virtual Expo 2022, an event that will take place on June, 30 from 4 pm CET with the presentation of the finalists to a jury of 35 European experts and the announcement of the winners in each of the seven participating categories.

The event is hosted by LatamScaleUp, an English consultancy for innovative companies, the Birmingham Enterprise Community, one of the most important innovation hubs in the UK and the Eutech Chamber, the European Chamber of Technology based in Switzerland.

The finalist companies by category are:

AGRITECH: Fitocon (Brazil), Regenerae (Brazil) and Ecosign (Brazil)

BIOTECH: Teambiosolvit (Brazil), Bidiagnostics (Brazil) and Eolopharma (Uruguay)

CLEANTECH: O2eco (Brazil), Biopolix (Brazil) and Destineja (Brazil)

100 companies from 9 countries applied for this 5th edition of the Latam Edge Award. Of the 21 finalist startups, 81% are Brazilian, followed by representatives from Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica and Uruguay, with 4.8% each. The list of finalists was defined by 26 Latin American judges experts in each of the seven areas. The Fintech category led in the number of entries, which is quite consistent with the results of researches in Latin America. However, the novelty lies in the fact that there was a considerable number of subscribers from smart cities and a much higher number, compared to previous editions, of companies coming from outside the main cities of Brazil.

"This year's edition took place after two years of a pandemic that greatly impacted companies in this region of the world. We noticed significant changes in the local ecosystems: one of them was the fact that Brazil, which traditionally represents an average of 60% of subscribers, has won 80% of the places of the finalists with companies from the most diverse regions of the country. This is important and shows that the innovation ecosystem as a whole is starting to spread across Brazil " comments Sandra Sinicco, CEO of Latam ScaleUP.

The next stage of the award will take place at the end of the month, on June 30, with the Latam Edge Edge Award and the Virtual Expo 2022, during which the finalists will present their companies to 35 European experts, including investors, potential partners, government entities and non-governmental. Registration to follow Latam Edge 2022 and check the presentations and announcement of winners in real-time is now open on the platform: https://tech.forum/latam-expo-q1-2022/ or on the website www.latamedge.com
